OXBOW MARKET IN NAPA

OXBOW PUBLIC MARKET

Oxbow Public Market is one of my favorite places in Napa. I went there yesterday to grab a cup of the best coffee I have ever tasted at Rituals and the place was very crowded. I was happy to see their businesses of unique food boutiques doing so well. I came back today to have some delicious Sonoma Duck at the Fatted Cow.

CHICKEN FEET & CHICKEN BROTH

Chicken feet and chicken bones are an excellent source for healthy nutrition if in moderation.

It is full of cartilage-building proteins and amino acids we all need. Given to dogs raw, help clean their teeth and builds cartilage in their joints. People although can not assimilate the bones raw or cooked, but in a well cooked broth humans can gain the benefits of this gelatin broth.

Refer to Sally Fallon for further information and recipe.

SPRING CLEANING THE BODY!

ASK DR. MAO

From the words of Dr. Maoshing Ni otherwise known as Dr. Mao, a Taoist Traditional Chinese Doctor in Santa Monica, California.

Spring Clean Your Body

"Upon the arrival of spring, human cultures throughout the ages have instinctively cleansed and detoxified themselves and reorganized their living environments. The reasons are well-founded. First, we naturally need to cast off the winter blues and feel renewed. Second, according to Chinese medicine, the liver is most active in the detoxification process during the spring.

Toxins are processed and neutralized by the liver and gall bladder and are expelled from the body through the spleen-lymphatic system, skin, bladder, and bowels.

Simple things you can do to help rid your body of toxins include: simplify your diet daily, drink a lemon squeezed in a glass of hot water upon rising and drink vegetable juices.

Further insight and assistance in ultimate health, contact Ask Dr. Mao.

FOOD RULES

BOOK REVIEWS / SUICIDE BY FOOD

All these books are related to health, well-being and food. Refer to my other blog to see my more detailed review of them all on;

Malka Out Of The Closet.

Animal In Translation by Temple Grandin is much to do with how we treat our animals that we eat. She is an expert and adviser to the meat industry. How Doctors Think by Jerome Goopman, M.D., highlights a little as to how we get so sick in what we eat.

The other books are obvious to their content and important to read to support our health. My reading of these books assists me in keeping on my track of staying healthy. I have never gone on a diet, I just educate my self over and over again to remind me of my choices of food, energy and what bad foods will eventually do to my life.

Or would you rather: Suicide by Food!

ORGANIZATION

Simple pull out trays allow access to the back of the cupboard when you only have a cupboard and not a real life walk in pantry. I wish...
This is a wish I have for everyone, for I love designing well organized and efficient pantries for my clients. Since I also cook and my close friend has 10 children I understand how important it is to have a full and well functioning pantry!

NAPA WINTER WORK

Napa vineyard worker tying off new vines getting ready for spring's harvest of great wines. Thank goodness it is not raining and the sun is warm for the hard workers, but of course the good rains and mud is a sign of a great harvest.

CUSTOM PANTRY

Quintessa Winery

The top photo is a small view of the pantry and storage room I designed for Quintessa Winery here in Napa Valley. On the other side from this view we stored all the pouring wines on adjustable high quality recycled wood coated with melamine shelving. In this photo one can see where Quintessa Winery staff will store the supplies for the water and cheeses that they serve with the wine. Here is also where we built a space for their new refrigerator topped with stainless steel counter that can be sanitized upon cleaning up. It is fun to be able to see behind the scenes of our great Napa Valley wineries. Napa is not just grapes and wines, it's hard work in every aspect. So enjoy our wines and keep us all working - support California...

A large menu.

Handsome and skilled Chefs...

Great Dolmas,
Fresh cut vegetables.
Kosher prepared foods and vegetables.

Large array of vegetables.

Delicious humus.
Outstanding Tahini.
Rabbi Yehuda Ferris of The Chabad of Berkeley
Rabbi Joseph Langer of Chabad of San Francisco
Mrs. Miriam Ferris playing games.
Barachi Ferris running for more food.
Lovely crowds enjoying the food.
The beautiful people of Oakland & Berkeley,
... in serious conversations.

Rabbi Yehuda Ferris of the Chabad of Berkeley arranged a fun gathering to celebrate the opening of the new Amba Restaurant in Montclair Village in the Oakland hills. The food was amazing. I have always had to wait to get to Los Angeles to eat a good falafel, now we have one closer at home and it is Kosher.
